Juliane Pichler

Project Leader

Juliane Pichler studied at the University of Vienna and holds a PhD and Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences. In 2006, she entered the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety and worked in the ‘Competence Center for Infectious Disease Epidemiology’ as investigator of several foodborne outbreaks and as conductor of descriptive and analytical epidemiological studies. Additionally, she was national contact point for communicable diseases in Austria for the Country Information Project of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. Now she is working in the department ‘Data Management’ of the business area Data, Statistics and Risk Assessment. As National Reporter for Zoonoses in Austria, she is responsible for the risk assessment regarding food safety along the food chain primarily concerning foodborne zoonoses. As a project leader she was working in several EFSA projects concerning improvement of data quality for zoonoses and foodborne outbreak data as well as chemical occurrence and food consumption databases.
