The Ministry for Health (Malta) is responsible for the effective and efficient operation and delivery of health services with an emphasis on corporate governance, service delivery and quality review. The Environmental Health Directorate (DEH), as a Directorate responsible to the Superintendent of Public Health within the Ministry for Health, promotes and safeguards the health and well-being of the public from adverse environmental effects. This Directorate leads programmes that promote the attainment of the highest standards of public health by addressing risk factors associated with environmental hazards and is responsible for the safeguarding of health and well-being through the enforcement of legislation derived from national, EU and international legislation. Tobacco Control is the responsibility of this Directorate.
