Norwegian Directorate of Health
The Norwegian Directorate of Health is a competent authority, subordinated to the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.
The Directorate will be the competent authority for all TPD provisions, except e-cigarettes, once the TPD enters into force in Norway.
The Directorate supervises and enforces the Norwegian Tobacco Control Act and follow our national Tobacco Control Strategy.
The Directorate of Health has the role of professional and regulatory body, which includes being the provider of technical and legal advice to the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.
The Norwegian Directorate of Health has for more than ten years, been National Focal Point for EU Health Programme, appointed by our ministry. Previously we have also been National Focal Point for Drug Prevention and Information Programme. The Directorate has participated in different roles in numerous Joint Actions.
