Monica Cahill

Environmental Health Officer

Monica Cahill graduated in 1993 with a B.Sc. (Hons) Environmental Health, TCD. She then pursued a varied & broad career, working in all disciplines in Environmental Health.

This led to employment with a number of local authorities in the UK and in Namibia, as well as spending 18 months in Bangladesh. She specialised in Food Safety and Health & Safety from 2003. Returning to part-time education in 2010, she gained a Diploma (Occupational Health & Safety) in 2012, (University of Bolton) and a Master of Public Health in 2016 (University of Liverpool).

Monica then broadened her experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in the private sector and with Greater Manchester Police. She worked as a Workplace Health & Wellbeing Lead in Greater Manchester, in which she combined her regulatory experience with the promotion of local public health priorities in workplaces. Monica returned to the HSE in October 2018.

She currently enjoys working as an EHO in Waterford & as a member of the national Environmental Health Service CPD/ Research OU
