Bureau for Chemical Substances
The Bureau for Chemical Substances is an institution of governmental administration responsible for issues related to chemicals in Poland. It is managed and represented by the Inspector for Chemical Substances. The Inspector is supervised by the Minister of Health. Since 2016, Bureau has got new tasks regarding The Directive 2014/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 3 April 2014, replacing Directive (2001/37/EC) as it was transposed to the Polish legal system by amending the act on the protection of health from the effects of the use of tobacco and tobacco products. In order to fulfil properly new obligations the Division for Tobacco Products was established in 2017. Since this time Bureau has been the Polish competent authority (CA) in regards to: tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and refill containers, herbal products for smoking.
