The National Korányi Institute of Pulmonology (OKPI) is a national tertiary healthcare centre dedicated to the research, prevention, and treatment of pulmonary diseases. The National Methodology Centre for Cessation Support is a unit within the National Korányi Institute of Pulmonology, as part of the Department of Health Management and Methodology.

The Centre’s tasks comprise the following: to provide methodological assistance on evidence based cessation support, to participate in professional activities aimed at tobacco control, to initiate the publication of relevant professional guidelines, to provide training and education on cessation support, and to operate the Quit line, which provides proactive telephone counselling for smoking cessation.

The Centre works in close cooperation with competent governmental organizations and national authorities.
