The University of Cyprus, has a student population of 7000 (2000 graduate) and it is considered to be the leading university and the most active research institution in Cyprusand ranks relatively high internationally (for example, placed in the 351- 400 group for 2015-2016 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings).

It has successfully implemented hundreds of research projects; so far, it has secured over 55 million of R&Ifunding and ranked 1st from all 27 Widening countries and 137th from all 32000 unique participants in H2020.

UCY has been awarded 2 Advanced, 2 Consolidator and 5 Starting ERC grants, and it has been involved in more than 100 MSCA. Under the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, it secured around 70 research projects with total funding of over€25 million.
