Catalan Institute of Oncology
The Tobacco Control Unit at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a WHO Collaborating Centre (CC) for Tobacco Control that aims to foster tobacco control at a national and international level.
The Unit develops its task at three levels: epidemiological research, implementation science and a smoking cessation clinic. Among other topics, we conduct evaluative research, including projects on the measurement of second-hand tobacco smoke exposure in the population, its attributable mortality, the use of environmental and personal biomarkers to assess the impact of smoke-free legislation, or the monitoring of the tobacco epidemic at a national and international level.
