Ministry of Health – Prevention Department (Affiliated entity with legal link with ISS) has the responsibility of the policies on tobacco control (preventing initiation, promoting cessation and protecting non-smokers).
Is the National Focal Point for tobacco control at the WHO. Participates at EU levels to the activity for tobacco control (Directive 2014/40/EU) and to expert groups on Tobacco Control. Together with Regions and other stakeholders elaborates and enforces National Prevention Plans (in which there is a section on tobacco control).
